8th Grade Spanish

COURSE OVERVIEW

This one-year course picks up where the 7th grade course left off, and covers the same material as the second semester of first-year Spanish at the high school. Upon successful completion of this course, your student will be well prepared to enter second-year high school Spanish next year. (Entering at first-year Spanish level is also an option for those students who need to strengthen their basic Spanish skills.)

**Please make sure you and/or your student speaks with the Spanish teacher before registering for high school classes in the spring. In doing so, we can ensure the best placement for your student's success.**

REQUIREMENTS

Students must bring a pen/pencil, their textbook (¡Exprésate!1B), as well as a Spanish-only folder/binder section and writing paper to class daily. Written work will be assigned regularly from the textbook and/or worksheets. In addition to homework and in-class assignments, students are expected to actively participate in class discussions and activities. Daily practice and review at home is also highly recommended. Studies show that 10 minutes of practice outside of class time on a daily basis is much more effective for learning a new language than simply the occasional "cram session."
