Welcome to the

6th Grade French Exploratory Homework Blog.

My name is Madame Thiel and I can be reached via e-mail at bthiel@usd116.org


INTRO TO FRENCH EXPLORATORY

During each 9 week class we will learn to use French to:
-Greet someone and ask how s/he is
-Introduce ourselves and spell our names
-Ask or tell the time and date of an event
-Politely order food and drink
-Ask prices and understand the answer
-Understand classroom instructions and know the names of classroom objects


We will also learn a bit about French-speaking cultures. Such as:
- Where in the world is French widely spoken
- Where the country of France is located and the approximate locations of its major cities, rivers, and mountains
- The names of some regions of France and what unique history, foods, music, and customs they have

- Some of the major monuments of Paris
- The names and contributions of some famous French-speaking people
- Some typical foods and drinks
- Some of the ways the French language has influenced English

Students will be given a teacher created workbook and dictionary to facilitate their practice. Both books should be brought to class every day.

Grades will be calculated as follows:

60% Assessments (Quizzes & Skits) 40% Practice (Workbook & Class Participation)
