    •ACTIVITY: Students will analyze several different versions of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" trying to figure out the intended message and intended audience for the song. (Discussion)
    •Finish GEOGRAPHY CHALLENGE: Students will analyze 4 graphs/charts (History Alive! pp. 182-183) and then answer questions.
    •When finished, read "What Caused the Civil War?" (DBQ Background Essay) highlight 5 ideas or events that you think are important.

    Monday Warm up statement
    Students will be reading from the Holt Science Textbooks today.
    Section 10.2 in the textbook focuses on light reflection & refraction.
    Students will write down the definitions to six vocabulary terms throughout the reading.

    Students that did not conference with their teacher last Friday will meet with him today to discuss their progress made towards writing their research paper.
    The remained of the ELA block will be spent finishing outlines and beginning to write the rough draft of the paper.

    The focus for today is to learn how to draw simple mirror ray diagrams.
    Light behaves differently when it strikes flat mirrors versus curved mirrors (concave & convex).
    We will set up several ray diagrams and students will draw each scenario depending upon the location of the object.

    SSR for 15 minutes
    Students are at different phases of the research process.
    Today in class they will make progress on one or more of the following areas: outline, rough draft, or peer-editing.

    Students will continue drawing convex & concave mirror ray diagrams.
    We will learn how each mirror type creates different images.
    Students are expected to describe the image = upright or inverted, magnified or reduced, & real or virtual

    All students should be writing their rough draft or peer-editing in groups of four, depending upon their progress at this point.

    Students will be viewing a light video today in class.
    After the 20-minute video, students will complete an assessment worksheet on an individual basis.

    Today is a wrap-up day for the research paper.
    As of today, all students should be completed with their rough drafts and correcting mistakes in order to write their final drafts.
    Students can write the final draft in class or type it at home.

    We are dismissed at 1:15 today ( 25 minutes classes )
    Students will read the remainder of section 10.2 from the Holt Science Textbooks.
    After the reading, students will join up into small groups and answer the assessment questions at the end of the section.

    SSR for those finished with their research paper.
    Students who have not finished their paper will spend time in class today writing their final draft.
    Week 21 spelling sentences will be handed out to students today.
