6th Grade ESL Social Studies

COURSE OVERVIEW

The goals of ESL Social Studies are to increase academic vocabulary, improve content reading skills, and develop academic writing skills as part of improving the student's English proficiency. This course focuses on world history. The overall units we will study are:
• History and Geography in Time
• Humans in the Universe
• Humans Almost Everywhere
• Farming and Becoming Civilizations
• Expanding Exchange and Encounter
• Patterns of Interregional Unity

REQUIREMENTS

Students will need to bring a pencil and Social Studies folder to class daily. They will also have a permanent Social Studies binder in our room which will be checked weekly. Students are expected to actively participate in class activities, complete homework assignments, and review material covered in class at home daily.
